About This Data
- ED visit rates are aggregated weekly from emergency departments and urgent care facilities participating in the national syndromic surveillance program.
- Wastewater surveillance reflects viral genetic material measured in sewage samples, an early indicator of community transmission that is independent of testing or healthcare-seeking behavior. Samples are collected by the City of Lawrence and submitted for analysis to WastewaterSCAN, a nationwide wastewater monitoring program based at Standord University in partnership with Emory University.
- During the flu season (October through May) LDCPH refreshes this data on a weekly basis; see the "Data updated" badge above for the most recent refresh date.
